Now they got rid of the pool table, the gem is a place you can dance on saturday night! Last saturday of every month they gonna cook up soul food specials and me and a guest DJ gonna play good greasy southern soul and r'n'b records till it's time to kick you all out. And hell, maybe a couple a chicago records too, if they good and greasy.

'Know Your Product' takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the female image and it's place in the media. Her impossibly perky gals are stripped down to their best selling assets - youthful beauties who flash a smile (and then some) to get your attention and burn a hole in your wallet.

Neryl's layering of sun-bleached candy colour, together with her trademark line work, strong female images and hand-drawn typography, impart a sense of fun vintage nostalgia and rock'n'roll ribald humour that has won her a loyal following.

'Know Your Product' will also be accompanied by A3 limited edition giclee prints.

Neryl is an illustrator/artist whose who knows her product - women. They can be found on Bare Escentuals 'Buxom Lips' and Bloom Cosmetics. Her international client list includes Coca Cola, McDonalds, Angostura, Target, Penguin Publishing, Chronicle Books, Harper Collins, New York Magazine, German Glamour, Travel & Leisure, INStyle UK, and Vogue Nippon. Her work has been included in Luerzer's Archive top 200 Illustrators.

She currently lives in Melbourne with her husband, daughter and impossibly large cat. She is represented in New York and in Australia

I am jiggering up and down and losing my banana for this great sixties thai group called "The Son Of PM". Its like crazy thai rave music, with a sixties beat sort of combo hammering away at one riff with some screechy organs and and a whole bunch of percussionists and the whole neighbourhood dancing around going "aaaiiiiieeeeeeee".

They called this stuff "Shadow Music" because The Shadows were real big in thailand and made everybody wanna buy electric guitars and vox organs and go 'ninganinganinganinganinganinganinganinganinga" with them. But it still ends up sounding very thai! There's all sorts a latin things going there too, i think they musta had some herb albert LP's in thailand too...

There were a whole bunch of these "Shadow Music" groups in thailand, including this one called PM Pocket Music (the PM being the inititials of their manager Phayoung Mukda). Mukda adopted son jjoined on keyboards and it became "The Son of PM". Or something like that. The liner notes to the record I have are in japanese so that's kind of the story of been able to piece together via the internet...

I first heard these dudes doing a wild cover of the James Bond Theme on one of those Thai beat A Go Go comps that dave beynon gave me, and then I just about lost my noodles when i saw a whole record of them. And on vinyl too! Go cop it and hold onto your banana...

Rodrigo from bananas good (they really is bananas good) new reggae group The Ruling Motions will hopefully come in for a guest DJ spot about 7pm to play some of the old Jamaican numbers they'll be doing at their gig at The Bendigo on Saturday night. I'll be down there on saturday playing fat early 70's Hi Records memphis soul biscuits between sets, so I'll probably spin a bunch of them on the radio too...

Also somewhere around 6 o'clock a fellow named Eugene Holcombe will be coming in to play this hilarious song I heard him play the other night that basically runs down the plot of this bad 80's movie called "Streets Of Fire"...

Will also be sure to play that ganga giri 'cane cutting' joint again since they got an album launch at the corner on friday. i love that song!
