 Oh Machete, you've made me ever so happy. I was secretly a little disappointed with your first movie after the awesome trailer, but then after watching the so-so trailer for Machete Kills, I was overjoyed to find it was in fact THE ULTIMATE GREATEST DUMB MOVIE EVER.. I cheered at the television I tells you. I can't wait to see it at The Astor and cheer there. Please everybody buy the DVD or a poster or something so that Machete Kills can recoup it's cost and then they will be able to make Machete Kills Again... In Space.

Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea (Chris Metzler & Jeff Springer, 2004)

I really loved this documentary. It's about a weird accidentally man made extremely salty inland sea in the middle of the California desert that was a major palm springs style tourist spot in the 50s and 60s, but through mismanagement and ecological disaster has ended up as strange post apocalyptic wasteland populated by the few eccentrics who are still prepared to live there. And quite perfectly, it is narrated by John Waters. Man do I wanna visit this place. Recommended!

Look at those teeth. That's how I like my rockabilly singers' teeth to look.

So much to like about this song! Stupid lyrics, great attitood filled whiny rockabilly voice, boss Mickey Baker guitar licks, drums that stomp stomp stomp without thinking about the meaning of life too much, the way he sounds like he's kind of losing it and about to cry on the fadeout.

It came out on a Bear Family LP in the 80s and on a rev-o-la Cd a few years back, but please won't somebody press up a nice 45 for us tragics out there?

I think I def gonna play this record "honkey tonk woman" by the fabulous playboys that i've wanted for ages and finally got, man it's so loud and nasty sounds with this chicken scratch guitar and the BVs way too loud and lead vocalist getting his throat all worn out, man it's good. That, and some other stuff too!

I think The Night Party coming in at about 6pm to play some guest selections...

My new favourite non-new band! I came across this by random cause I liked the cover. Great synthy post punk group from Sweden that existed for just over a year in 1980-'81. Did a couple singles and some compilation tracks that have been compiled onto an LP by Dark Entries records. Man oh man they have a great sound, take a listen
