ROY GAINES - BLACK GAL (196?)

I am totally mesmerized by the deep spacious organy vibe of this odd record. Most of Roy Gaines stuff I have heard is rocking r'n'b, but this is almost a beatnik jazz thing, with some nice country blues campfire harmonica floating around now and then. The equally odd "cu-be-ar" record label I have never seen either and cannot find reference to any other releases, despite this being number 9340-59! Roy gets production credit (and, amusingly enough, writing credit too), so maybe he just cooked up the label for this release. These odd label names often tend be amalgams of the names of the people putting up the money or the artists kids or something, so i'll just imagine Roy's wife was home taking care of Curtis, Bertha and Archer while he got lifted and went all beatific on this ancient song in the studio...
