ALLEN TOUSSAINT

Did anyone hear Allen Toussaint getting interviewed last saturday on RRR? Talk about the supreme southern gentleman! What a marvellous speaking voice that man has. And he remembers everything like it was yesterday... He's playing at The Palace (aka the old metro) next wendnesday, and although it's quite expensive (about 70 bux), i've never seen him and would feel quite disrespctul if i stayed at home scratching my nuts while the master came through town. So a paying tribute I shall go. Hope some of you can manage to scratch up the money and do the same. He's written and produced and piano'd so many great songs it's ridiculous, but here's a few that leap to mind...

Faaark, between the essendon and yahyahs records fair and my usual constant trawling, I have so many new records I wanna play on the show this week! We'll see what we can fit in, but i got new beauties from nervous norvus, senator everett mcgill, arthur lyman, tony tee, wynder k frog, the flat duo jets, manny corchado, the haskels and mo mo mo... Plus gotta pay respect to the worlds greatest person and current intownian, Allen Toussaint, and play some of his handiwork... Will try to play some cuts from ace melbourne bands who are playing this week such as Cash Savage, Kim Salmon, Keggin and so forth... Plus i'll be playing stuff from and giving away a copy of our groovy Cd of the Week, "Beautiful River and Mountains" by Shin Joong Hyun, real groovy psychedelic shiz out South Korea, 1958- 1974

DUNGEON PARTY#2: HAWAIIAN ZOMBIE (this thurs)

You would think that being from Hawaii I would be able to spell Hawaiian no trouble but it give me trouble every time... Anyway, tomorrow night is the second instalment of our residency down in the grace darling dungeon, and this weeks theme is HAWAIIAN ZOMBIE! Be real good to see some zombies down there besides us. Tim from Plague Doctor tells me he is going allllllll out with his zombie costume, and the guys from The Greasy Hawaains were enquiring about bringing some theatrical "flats" down, so should be something to see!
