ARBITRAGE (Nicholas Jarecki, 2012)

Cuts open package. Dips finger. Tastes. "This is quality stuff..."

Like last weeks movie, this ain't exactly a gold dubloon of pure cinematic art you'll remember forever or anything, more like a really good episode of Law & Order or something (if Law & Order didn't totally suck all the time).

Richard Gere plays a hedge fund manager who appears to be Mr Success No Worries On Top Of The World but is in fact desperately trying to squirm his way out of a web of lies and fraud and crime with more lies and fraud and crime.

It's tense and compelling and very well played. The pacing is great and all the details of Gere's moneyed world are very beleivably drawn in. The old american gigolo himself is still handsome and charming and actually acts the shit out of this one. Nice work everybody...
