If you haven't been to Dane Certificate's Magic tricks, Gags & Theatre, well, brother, sisters, you just gotta come check it out. It's a funny little hole in the wall place you get into from an alley behind Sydney Road in Coburg, where Dane performs his weird magic show and has other magicians come and perform, and they also sell fake vomit and dog poo and whoopee cusions and all kinds of magic and gag accesories. And they have a bar there and a great old school popcorn machine that Dane makes chilli popcorn in when they show movies. Cause they show movies there too. And sometimes they have bands play there too, and one of those sometimes is THIS SATURDAY NIGHT.
At 9pm is GATOR QUEEN DUO, with Matilda Bree Robertson on accordian and scratchy cigarette vocals and her recently immigrated mexican / hawaiian / new orleansian beau J Goody Goodman on boss guitar and good hair. They play Zydeco and Louisiana R'n'B and things like that...
At 10pm is LOVERS OF THE BLACK BIRD, with Monty Montan on glockenspiel and vocals and Broseph J Foley on guitar and vocals. They play amazing dark twin-peaksy stuff with lots of sturm and drang.
At 11pm is Richie1250 & The Brides Of Christ, with Richie Twelfiftee and Eugene L Holcombe and Genevieve Callaghan and the whole gang playing rock n roll songs about whippets and doo-wop songs about sexy french teenage boys and bossa nova songs about sex crazy cops and other type of songs about other stuff too. Special guest Carolyn Hawkins from Chook Race sitting in on drums!
And of course Dane Certificate himself will be working the crowd and performing great feats of magic between the acts.
It's gonna be fun!
